The publishing industry was declining, marketing efforts were all about the product, not customers' needs. Company had laid off employees and was facing more difficult decisions.

Client hired Mark Paul as interim executive - responsible for marketing and sales (as Chief Marketing Officer). Defined and quantified customers’ specific needs, motivations for purchasing and adjusted their marketing and sales to increase responsivity from customers. Performed primary customer research, created customer-focused go-to-market tactics (based on the strategies developed due to truly listening to customers). Led the 40-person team to attract more customers.
